Museu Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro
Museums and Palaces
This is a biographical and monographic museum, dedicated to the life and work of Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro (1846-1905), an important personality in the cultural, artistic and political circles of Lisbon in the second half of the 19C.
Having left behind a wide variety of different artistic works, especially in the fields of drawings and ceramics, he achieved great fame as a caricaturist and sharp and incisive critic of his contemporary society.
The museum has the most complete collection of Portuguese ceramics produced by Bordalo Pinheiro - with his characteristic taste for hypernaturalism - as well as an extensive collection of his painting, original drawings and publications.
