The large sandy expanse of Vagueira Beach is still used by fishermen as they continue with their small scale traditions even if pulling in the fish laden nets is now done by tractor rather than bull.
The beach now attracts holidaymakers and in large numbers during the peak summer season. The most popular point is over by the pontoon as it serves to create a windbreak effect. The choppy seas are good for surfers and not particularly dangerous.
