The Serra da Estrela based tourism company Turistrela, S.A. has a 30-year history under its belt and holds the Tourism and Sports concession for the Serra da Estrela Natural Park. It is further responsible for the only Ski Resort in Portugal located in the Tower, right in the heart of the Natural Park at an altitude of 2000m.
After the full recent refurbishment, the ski resort gained new facilities that include all the necessary support infrastructures, new and more sophisticated equipment, state of the art machinery, a forfeit system among the most modern in Europe and an innovative artificial snowmaking system that enables anywhere between 120 to 150 days skiing per year.
The Serra da Estrela Natural Park is also ideal for a full range of sporting and adventure activities such as hiking or horse-riding, off-road driving, bungy-jumping, guided tours around the park, sports fishing and ornithology.
