A church built in 1859 as a ex-voto to Virgin Mary, when the deadly cholera epidemic seemed likely to devastate the entire population. A mirador above the chapel provides views of the entire region which includes a lagoon.
Religious celebrations take place on the third Sunday in August, with the traditional guests with their "knapsacks". The sanctuary area includes the Diocesan House of Nossa Senhora do Socorro, which is used as a place of meditation and for courses.
