Vilamoura beach wins Accessibility award
Vilamoura beach, in Loulé council, is the winner of the “More Accessible Beach” Award, attributed by the National Rehabilitation Institute. This award is recognition of Loulé Municipal Council’s commitment to best practices in relation to accessibility and quality in the support provided to people with mobility difficulties during the 2015 bathing season on this beach.
Vilamoura Beach, managed by Vilamoura World, is a welcoming beach with a vast expanse of sand, which offers a variety of services and amenities to cater for hordes of visitors every year. As well as a restaurant and snack bar, it has WCs adapted for people of low mobility, a free-of-charge bathing tricycle for bathers with motor disabilities, showers, first-aid posts and a well-appointed car park.
The “More Accessible Beach” Award is an annual award that attributes Portugal’s beaches, whether on the coast or inland, with the “More Accessible Beach” flag during the bathing season to show that it has excellent accessibility conditions.
