Welcome to Madeira Island!
A privileged destination for Diving, the Garajau Nature Reserve is your ex book. It is undoubtedly the business card par excellence of our seas and our natural beauty, providing an unforgettable diving experience in the heart of this magnificent reserve and offers sea lovers the possibility to visit this authentic sanctuary of marine life with ease and convenience.
The Mero Diving Center is located in the Garajau Beach Resort Complex and has the conditions for divers and non-accredited diver families to spend relaxing and familiar moments. With easy access by car or Cable Car has restaurant with bar service, spas, toilets, beach showers, sun loungers, umbrellas.
Entering the water a few steps from the Diving Base, we can find a legendary dive site, the Garajau, making unnecessary boat trips to reach your dive site. (Location very easy if you want to do 3 or 4 dives in one day.)
The depth of this place is from 0 to 30 meters and therefore can adjust to any level of diving and can always be accompanied by a dive guide. (The night dives are legendary.)
The temperature of the water is around 18º in the winter and 24º in the summer and being the beach of Garajau protected of the winds and of the North Sea, that allows to dive all the year.
A part of the Gulf Stream crosses the Madeira Sea, making the surrounding waters full of natural fishes of a subtropical climate.
Here we can find the greatest variety and quantity of species in the seas of Madeira, as our Meros, Giants who greet us as if we were longtime friends; 4 varieties of morays; Lobo Marinho (Monk Seals) is the rarest seal of the world and we have it here in Madeira a Population that is under a great protection, there is the possibility of being seen by the divers. Great rays and, if it is in August / September, we may also be lucky to find the Jamantas, large shoals of numerous varieties of fish (barracudas, pigs, tuna, mackerels, mollusks and many others).
Madeira, island of Flowers, known by all. With great mountains and with a steep coast that goes directly to the sea, we will be able to observe the greater mountain that is Pico Ruivo with 1862 meters of height.
Throughout the year, we have a mild and moderate climate. We can also say that Madeira has micro climate around the island. In the north we have more rain and in the south it is subtropical climate. Temperatures in the South at low altitudes range from 17 º in winter and 28/30 º in summer.
