Museums and Palaces

The Casa Junqueiro Regional Museum is located in the Freixo de Espada à Cinta Historic Centre, in the manor house lived in by José António Junqueiro, father of poet Guerra Junqueiro, popularly known as “Junqueiro Velho” (Old Junqueiro), in the 19th century.

The museum is situated on the ground floor of the house and consists of six rooms that showcase the lifestyle of a wealthy family in the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Among the rooms is a faithful reproduction of the “sóto” - the old name given to shops selling traditional, local produce.
