Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno, Georg Friedrich Händel
Il trionfo del tempo e del disinganno, Georg Friedrich Händel
Events
This work promises a unique experience, where vocal richness and expressive depth will be highlighted. Composed in 1707, when Handel was in Rome, the work was written at the request of Cardinal Benedetto Pamphili, a man of letters who provided him with the libretto entitled La Bellezza ravveduta nel trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno.
Unable to create operas due to the Pope's prohibition, Handel transformed oratorio into a work full of musical theatricality. The plot revolves around four characters: Beauty, Pleasure, Time and Disillusionment. Beauty, the most complex, oscillates between the arguments presented by Time and Disillusionment on the one hand and Pleasure on the other. The vocal technique required is extraordinary, especially for Beauty and Pleasure, resulting in a musical narrative that conquers for its expressiveness.
