Ana Léon – Gestures

Ana Léon – Gestures
Events
In the exhibition Gestures, Ana Léon reveals delicate choreographies in six films presented in six successive theaters. The artist, who revealed herself in Portugal in the context of the 80s of the twentieth century, works in parallel with drawing and film, using analogue technology to make stop motion animated films, recreating the movement of bodies.
In these works, the artist undertakes, through accentuated repetition, an exhaustive process of observation and cataloguing of everyday attitudes. In the six successive rooms, you can see a significant number of male figures, almost always shown in an "American shot" and dressed in very simple cut clothes, performing, in a loop, a restricted number of repetitive gestures.
