The Mercado de Culturas à Luz das Velas is an original event that takes place in the Convento de São José and the surrounding streets, during which thousands of candles are lit, bringing together flavors and arts, from music, dance, to gastronomy, handicrafts, sculpture and painting.

This year's cultural theme is "World Heritage Cultural Expressions" and there will be plenty of Intangible Cultural Heritage songs and dances, an exhibition entitled "Intangible Cultural Heritage Expressions of Humanity", a Couscous gastronomic area, ethnic and designer handicrafts and symbols of World Heritage Cultural Expressions drawn with thousands of candles.
