The exhibition "The art of interweaving wicker", by Júlia Martins and Sérgio Pereira, will be on display at the Barcelos Tourist Office until May 25th. The aim of this exhibition is to affirm the importance of the municipality of Barcelos in the area of coarse basketry and handicrafts, based on its very own identity and vitality, countering the trend towards the almost total disappearance of this ancient art.

The artisans, Júlia Martins and Sérgio Pereira, are exhibiting creative basketwork, with new shapes and new contexts, making the pieces contemporary and fit into today's society.
