Between August 13 and 17, the municipality of Vila do Porto is promoting the 15 August Festivities, a festival in honor of Nossa Senhora da Assunção, the town's patron saint.

In the Municipal Garden, you'll find plenty of musical entertainment, with concerts by big names in national music, as well as some local folklore groups. At the traditional food and drink stalls you can have a snack while the children have fun on the inflatables. Another highlight is the "Buy and Explore Locally" market. As for the religious component, there is a solemn mass and a procession through the streets of the town, accompanying the image of Nossa Senhora da Assunção.
