100 Years of Leica I - The World Through the Viewfinder

100 Years of Leica I - The World Through the Viewfinder
Events
Until July 13, 2025, the Soares dos Reis National Museum will host the exhibition "100 Years of Leica I - The World Through the Viewfinder", featuring works by winners of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award, one of the most prestigious international awards for documentary and contemporary photography.
Photographs by Sebastião Salgado, Davide Monteleone, Andrea Hoyer, Martin Kollar, Gianni Berengo Gardin, Gonçalo Fonseca, Dominic Nahr, Nanna Heitmann, Jing Huang and Mary Gelman form a moving and profound visual archive of the human condition and the tensions of our time. Introduced to the public in 1925, the Leica I inaugurated a new era in the history of photography: light, agile and intimate, it allowed us to capture life as it is.
