This exhibition at the Monastery of Ancede, in Baião, features works by some of the greatest names in impressionist painting, such as Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Alfred Sisley, Camille Pissarro, Henri Matisse, Eugène Boudin, Charles-François Daubigny, Jean-Baptiste Corot, Georges Seurat, José Malhoa, Silva Porto, Marques de Oliveira, among others.
Impressionism was born on April 15, 1874, when a group of artists decided to exhibit their paintings outside the official salons in Paris. At the time, the works caused controversy because they were very different from what was usual, but the style ended up winning over the public and changing the history of art.
