The legacy of Vicente Lusitano, a Portuguese composer and music theorist born in Olivença, takes a prominent place in this concert. Although it has only recently been rediscovered by contemporary performers, its name is fundamental for scholars of music theory, in particular for the famous debate he had with the Italian Nicola Vicentino on the recovery of the sonorities of Ancient Greece. In the vibrant context of the Renaissance, there was intense discussion about how to bring back these repertoires and ideas. The recital, designed for traverso and plucked string instruments, seeks to establish bridges between Lusitano's music and that of his contemporaries of the international Renaissance period. Special focus will be given to the Iberian Peninsula and Italy, regions where Lusitano developed his career and achieved great prestige. Thus, the public will be able to get to know better not only his work, but also the musical environment that shaped his creative path.
